First Cut is the Deepest ROD STEWART

Written in 1965 by Cat Stevens, he only included it two years later on his 1967 album, New Masters (with Big Jim Sullivan on guitar). He eventually sold the song for £30.00 to P P Arnold who released it in the summer of '67 and was rewarded with a UK #18. Ten years later, 1977, Rod took the song to #1 in the UK as a double A-side with "I Don't Want to Talk About It".
