** curtailed from Lewisham shopping centre to Lewisham Station makes no difference tbh Here is a ride on MEC50 on the 108 starting on the A13/A2 (A102) junction (east London) and ending at North Greenwich bus station (South London) via Blackwall tunnel which goes underneath the river Thames At present the 108 is the only route in London that goes under the Thames via a tunnel there have been consultations by Newham and Greenwich councils to build the Silvertown tunnel which will be a new tunnel going from north Greenwich to Silvertown which will be bigger and able to fit large HGVS and relive pressure on Blackwall tunnel however there's alot of cristism from people on both sides of the river and others over concerns of pollution and noise and the money to build it I personally think they should build the Silvertown tunnel it will be better for everyone including less traffic on Blackwall tunnel and improved bus links between East and south London These citaros are quite nice with very comfy seating however getting thrash on this route is near impossible due to spped limits and drivers don't use kickdown much on these Vehicle information Bus type Mercedes citaro O530 L Chassis Mercedes OM906HLA Emmisions euro 4 (euro 6 trap) Gearbox 5 speed zf ecomat Built mannheim Germany (but assembled to RHD in the UK and registered in the west Midlands) New in 2009 (10 years old) New as a large batch of citaros for Waterloo depot in 2009 for red arrow routes 507 and 521 but when both these routes got electricified with byds these citaros were split up most went to GAL driver training fleet whilst some ended up withdrawn and sent to Thames travel and caurosel (both part of go ahead group) and the rest were transferred to new cross later modern wharf for 108 and some ended up in Luton Airport depot for airport shuttle The 108 is operated by go ahead London at modern wharf MG (New Cross for the 2 scania irizar electrics and Sunday night south London only 108D workings where its allocated double deckers) #ForTheLoveOfBuses #goaheadlondon #mercedescitaro #mercedes © Daniel's UK Transport videography 2019
