1950 HITS ARCHIVE: Wanderin’ - Sammy Kaye (Tony Alamo & the choir, vocal)

Wanderin’ (Kaye) by Sammy Kaye & his Orchestra, vocal by Tony Alamo & The Kaye Choir This springtime hit of 1950 is performed by Don Cornell’s replacement with the Kaye band, Tony Alamo (not to be confused with the disgraced founder of Tony Alamo Christian Ministries, who died in prison in 2017). First recorded in 1928 by Vernon Dalhart, this folkish ballad is wrongly given sole composer label credit to bandleader Kaye. The melody was re-used by Tom Jones for his late-‘60s hit “I’ll Never Fall In Love Again.” THE 1950 HITS ARCHIVE - here in one place, a good-quality library of original-release-version best-sellers and songs that made an impact that were either released or enjoyed a major chunk of their popularity within the calendar year 1950 (some were recorded in 1949).
