TODAY'S HEALTH MINUTE BY DOCTOR'S NATURAL:
Omega-3 fatty acids reverse the cardiovascular damage of smoking
Amazing health news that has come out just last month at the World Congress of Cardiology about one of the most widely taken dietary supplements, Omega-3 fish oil.
The findings that were presented show that Omega-3 actually helps reverse the damage done by smoking.
The university study was done over a four-week period.
Subjects in the study took supplements with a 2g dosage per day of omega-3 fatty acids.
Results demonstrated improved arterial stiffness and moderated acute smoking-
related damage to the elasticity of blood vessels in smokers.
Leader of the study said, "These findings suggest that omega-3 fatty acids inhibit the detrimental effects of smoking on arterial function, an independent prognostic marker of cardiovascular risk."
So what's the takeaway lesson of all this? At Doctor's Natural, we agree with Dr. Kathryn Taubert, chief science officer at the World Heart Federation offered a great reminder: The only way to protect against the harmful effects of tobacco is to STOP smoking.
Eat a healthy diet rich with omega-3 fatty acids, take your omega-3 supplements, vitamins and minerals and get some exercise.
Remember, when it comes to your health, THINK NATURAL.
