SONG: Understanding ARTIST: Marcus Anderson CONTRIBUTING: Brian Culbertson CD: Limited Edition [March 2017] CD on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Limited-Marcus-Anderson/dp/B01N14SDJ3 CD on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/limited-edition-bonus-version/id1200042903 Nataly’s Corner presents new music from Award winning jazz musician Marcus Anderson featuring a track from his recently released album titled “Limited Edition”. This is not my first introduction to this talented Artist. In 2015, Marcus Anderson outdid himself with his contemporary jazz album “And Coffee”, which had several smooth tracks listed on it that compelled me to add his music to the Channel. The saxophone grooves of “Understanding”, which is on the Limited Edition album and one of my favorites, features the accompaniment of jazz pianist Brian Culbertson. Fans should also check out the sultry track “Give Love”, which features Anthony Saunders. This project confirms that Marcus has another successful album on his hands. Marcus Anderson’s BIO states that he was introduced to the saxophone at age 12. He studied jazz at North Carolina Central University where he was a member of the program’s world renowned jazz ensemble and studied with jazz greats Branford Marsalis and Gospel saxophonist Donald Hayes. Having performed and recorded music for several years, Marcus debuted his first album, “My Turn”, in 2005. In 2009, Marcus Anderson was the winner of the Capital Jazz Fest Challenge putting him in the mainstream with his peers in contemporary jazz. Some of his earlier accolades include performing for Hillary Clinton and Jesse Jackson. Marcus Anderson has performed with a host of well-known artist such as Ledisi, Peter White, Boney James, Gerald Albright, Kirk Whalum, and George Duke [to name a few]. He is a former member of Prince’s New Power Generation [NPG] and also the infamous jazz ensemble group, the Sax Pack.
