Their single "Wolf," showcases their lyrical meaning of war and as lead singer, Tobias Borelius states, "how meaningless it is." But don't let this change the way you view the song. Metaphorical lyrics told through the personification of the "wolf in fairyland" appeals to another dimension of feelings, while an undertone of optimism takes the listener into a dream like dimension lulled into a place of comfort. The term "Wolf" symbolizes the soldiers and how they need to find their safe place amongst the chaos of war. The sound of the light bouncy chimes highlights the feeling of hope despite universal threats in our lives.
About Emerald Park
Formed by singer/guitarist Tobias Borelius in 2002, Emerald Park was his lone musical territory until singer Martina Johansson joined in 2004. During 2010, the band cemented their current lineup of Tobias Borelius, Martina Johansson, guitarist
Frans af Schmidt, bassist Conny Fridh, drummer Måns Katsler, keyboardist
Daniel Gunneberg and singer/keyboardist Mattias Wilke. Their work with other artists such as Galaxy 500 has steadily gained them popularity; through Jamendo alone they received 3.5 million listens.
Praise
"Full of bright, catchy songs and refreshingly free of artifice. The album doesn't come with a built-in gimmick or a breathless press release proclaiming the band's indie credibility. Instead, the band simply delivers 45-plus minutes of well-written, likable songs." - Chris Conation, PopMatters.com
"Martina Johansson is singing a cool, bright and airy electropop verse, after which Tobias Borelius comes rumbling in with rough indie pop and electric guitars where they seem to bend the tones a bit more to mark the contrasts." - Meadow Music
"They craft a flexible sense of pop melancholy from their influences and are able to draw out a small sliver of hope from the resulting shadows." - Dave Luttrull - Hellhound Music
