New York, NY (Top40 Charts / Interscope Records) 13-year-old singer songwriter Skylar Stecker has signed with pop alternative label Cherrytree Records / Interscope. The Wisconsin native, whose YouTube channel has over 25 million views and 280,000 subscribers, is gearing up to release her full-length debut album This Is Me due out on September 25th.
"Since the Cherrytree Music Company's inception in 2005, we've been drawn to label artists and management clients with singular voices and strong points of view," said Martin Kierszenbaum, Chairman of the Cherrytree Music Company. "When I first met Skylar, I was immediately struck by her extraordinary vocal timbre, intonation and control. Her poise and talent for songwriting were just as remarkable. I don't think I could be more excited to welcome her to our boutique Cherrytree roster."
Stecker made waves with her self-released EP Firecracker released earlier this year, with MTV Hits tapping her for their 2015 "Fresh Faces" music video block and sites such as Teen Vogue and PopCrush raving about her "super infectious" single "Hey," saying it "perfectly shows off her pop sound with a touch of R&B and urban flare." The remix for "Rooftop," one of the songs featured on the EP, has been climbing the Billboard Dance Club Chart and is currently #16 and the music video for the beat-driven song has over 5 million views on YouTube.
"I've been having so much fun making new music over the last year and to now have the opportunity to team up with Martin & Cherrytree/Interscope is a dream come true," said Skylar Stecker. "My new album This Is Me embraces the pop urban sound that I love and truly reflects who I am as an artist and songwriter. I feel incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by this amazing team who allows me to be me!"
