Airi Mori Releases Beguiling "City Of Dreams"

New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Pop artist, Airi Mori, released her brand new single, “City of Dreams,” a sweeping ballad packed with cinematic imagery. Filled with tropical synth notes, this dance anthem paints a sonic landscape of the blur between fantasy and actuality. “City of Dreams” is now available on iTunes.

Opening with the smooth undulating tides of the shore, Airi Mori’s “City of Dreams” is an aural transportation from the bounds of reality to a coastal land of imagination. Like a modern portrayal of Alice in Wonderland, the track depicts a childlike view of a fantasy world through in a lush composition. “This song is a fairytale between reality and imagination. I wanted to capture a sense of magic and wonder in a fresh context that still felt timeless,” explains Mori. While her previous release, “Fading,” paid homage to nineties dance pop, “City of Dreams” elevates her sound to a vivid and theatrical styling with a cool synth atmosphere. Painting the broad strokes of a mystical world, the song travels beneath the depths of the ocean to Mori’s wildest imaginations of Atlantis. “City of Dreams” explores exotic beauty in one moment and seamlessly shifts to an ominous sense of drama in the next. As Mori repeats the line, “Don’t give up,” the growing tension in her voice mirrors the obstacles a hero faces in folklore and mythology. Packed with quiet intensity and subtlety, “City of Dreams” is a soundtrack that carries the story without the need of visuals. Airi Mori collaborated with Luis “Havits” Lopez to compose, record and produce the track.

Hailing from Nagoya, Japan, Airi Mori’s draw to music deepened immensely as she developed a taste of American pop acts like Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and Celine Dion. A pivotal moment in her appreciation for pop was the moment she heard Houston’s “I Have Nothing” for the first time. Unlike anything she’d ever heard before, Airi Mori cites this experience as the moment her dreams to create her own stirring music began to form. Airi Mori began to make a name for herself performing in Japanese television commercials and gracing the stage of Tokyo venues like the famous Ebisu Garden Place. Though she enjoyed the success of her exposure in Japan, she felt it was time to take her ambitions further and pursue them in the United States. In 2013, Mori relocated to Los Angeles, CA to study music business, production and recording.

With influence from the music of her home, Airi Mori fuses the flavor of Japanese music with American dance pop to create a fresh sound entirely her own. Between her passion for ballads and percussive beats, Mori’s palette makes for an exciting and unpredictable artist, always with a new trick up her sleeve.
