Downtown Music Publishing Signs Exclusive Worldwide Administration Agreement To Represent The Estate Of Erroll Garner
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Downtown Music Publishing announced today that the company has entered into an exclusive worldwide administration agreement with Octave Music Publishing Corp.

The deal covers all of renowned American Jazz pianist and composer Erroll Garner's works including beloved standard "Misty," as well as Garner's extensive archive of master recordings, many of which are currently unreleased.

Of the announcement, Jedd Katrancha, Downtown's Executive Vice-President said, "We are both honored to be involved with Garner's wonderful songs and recordings, and equally as thrilled to partner with the passionate and talented team who work tirelessly to preserve and propel Garner's legacy."

Octave Music Publishing together with the Erroll Garner Jazz Project (EGJP) is dedicated to invigorating the musical and cultural legacy of the legendary pianist, as well as supporting African American community-based jazz initiatives. After years of meticulous work restoring and digitizing hundreds of hours of master recordings, Octave Music and the EGJP began releasing new music from the collection this past fall. More releases are planned for 2016 as Octave Music and EGJP prepares to celebrate Garner's 95th birthday.

Commenting on the deal, Steven Smallowitz of Octave Music said, "Octave Music is excited to begin our partnership with Downtown Music to restore Erroll Garner's music to long-time and new Jazz fans around the world".

A Pittsburgh native, Garner played with a style that straddled sophistication and swing. His film work, including the score for Paul Newman's film 'A New Kind of Love', earned him a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but Garner is most known as a prolific and captivating pianist. His discography boasts dozens of releases for labels like Columbia, Atlantic, and Savoy, but he is perhaps best remembered for his 1955 live album "Concert By The Sea', a best-selling release that was expanded and consequently nominated for a Grammy last year.
