Maestro Gerard Korsten & Bayreuth Singer Christa Mayer Join Interharmony Series
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) "The appointment of renowned conductor Gérard Korsten to lead the InterHarmony Festival Orchestra adds a special dimension to the orchestral program." Misha Quint, Music Director and Founder

The appointment of renowned conductor Gérard Korsten to lead the InterHarmony Festival Orchestra in Session II adds a special dimension to the orchestral program at the InterHarmony® International Music Festival in Acqui Terme, Piedmont, Italy. As a violinist himself who held principal positions in top orchestras, it creates the most rare opportunity for students to work under tutelage of musician who understands every little detail of orchestral playing at the highest level. This summer Maestro Korsten will conduct Dvorak's "Cello Concerto" with solo cellist Misha Quint, Brahm's enigmatic "Hungarian Dances", and Brahm's "Nanie".

Principal Conductor of Austria's Symphonieorchester Vorarlberg Bregenz, Gérard Korsten is also in demand as a guest conductor for appearances with major theatres and orchestras in Europe, Asia, Australia and South Africa. Recent engagements include: Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Camerata Salzburg, Adelaide Symphony, BBC Scottish Symphony, Haydn Philharmonie, Hong Kong Philharmonic, Irish Chamber Orchestra, Latvian National Symphony, Orchestra Padova e Veneto, Scottish and Swedish Chamber Orchestras, SWR Sinfonieorchester Freiburg and Yomiuri Nippon Orchestra, La Scala in Milan. Sulzbach-Rosenberg is just less than an hour drive from the famous Wagner home to the Bayreuther Festpiele. This distance will become much shorter as mezzo-soprano Christa Mayer, the best of the Bayreuth, joins InterHarmony's Outstanding Guest Artist Series.

Ms. Mayer will give an open master class on August 9, 2018 at the Sulzbach-Rosenberg International Music Festival, where students in the Vocal program will be invited to perform. Students will be given a chance to hear Christa Mayer perform in concert with the festival Music Director, cellist Misha Quint, in the Brahms: "Two Songs for Voice, Cello, and Piano".

Guest performances in recent years have brought Christa Mayer to sing main roles in opera houses in Berlin, Munich, Venice, Florence, Bilbao, Barcelona, Sevilla und Tokyo. Upcoming engagements include Brangäne in Tristan und Isolde and Mary in The Flying Dutchmen at the Bayreuth Festival.
