LONDON, UK (Virgin Records/ V Festival) - Festival organisers, celebrating 10 years of V, continue to impress music enthusiasts by announcing 9 fantastic new acts today. The festival, sponsored by Virgin Mobile is now sold out. The new confirmed acts are: The Roots, Polyphonic Spree, Good Charlotte, The Stands, Jem, The Departure, Tom Vek, Estelle and Lucie Silvas.

The festival takes place at Hylands Park, Chelmsford and Weston Park, Staffordshire on the weekend of 20th-21st August. The acts will join already announced headliners Oasis, Franz Ferdinand, Scissor Sisters and a host of the music industry's finest talent.

Festival Director Bob Angus commented:

'We're still pleasantly reeling at how quickly this year's festival sold out. It's been a great start to our 10th anniversary we have a fantastic festival with a very diverse line up and we're not quite finished yet.'

Philadelphia hip-hop crew, The Roots will play the JJB/Puma stage at this year's festival. With a Grammy nominated album 'Phrenology' under their belts, The Roots guarantee a legendary live experience.

In answer to the question: how the hell are the 23 strong Polyphonic Spree going to fit on the JJB/Puma stage, we don't know! What we do know is that the music is definitely best experienced live: 23 people clothed in white robes singing and dancing their hearts out -not to be missed.

The Madden brothers, who celebrate their 10th anniversary with V this year are more widely known as Good Charlotte. After a successful return to the UK with the single 'I Just Wanna Live', the band will certainly be 'living it up' this summer!

Main stage Liverpudlian band, The Stands have won praise and encouragement from Oasis legend Noel Gallagher and have come a long way since their debut gig in 2001.

Welsh born Jem started writing her own music when she was just 13. Her love of beats and bass has led her working with acclaimed producers around the world, and even an appearance on the OC!

Northampton band, The Departure have been in fast forward mode since their live debut in February 2004. Not stopping for breath, the band will be giving fans a treat with their melodic sounds when they perform on the 2nd stage come August.

23 year old Tom Vek usually records and produces his music in his parents' garage so will be in for a shock when thousands turn up to hear - in his own words, his style of 'electro geek rock'!

Anyone declared 'a UK talent to look out for' by Tim Westwood probably doesn't need an introduction. Estelle is now one of the hottest urban acts around and will be playing the JJB/Puma stage.

Also, gracing the JJB/Puma stage with her presence is singer/songwriter Lucie Silvas, the new British talent with an incredible voice. With two singles fast approaching platinum sales, it looks like nothing can stop the 24 year old!

A brief history of 10 years of V…

The very first V festival was held in 1996 and was the only event of its kind to be staged at two sites over the same weekend where the artists swap venues overnight. Previous headliners have included The Strokes, Muse, Dido and Pixies (last year), Coldplay and Red Hot Chilli Peppers (2003), Manic Street Preachers and Suede (1999), Prodigy and Blur (1997) and featured acts such as Travis, The Verve, James Brown, Iggy Pop, Macy Gray, Moby, Faithless and Kylie... The festival boasts the cream of the music crop every year and organisers are pulling out all the stops to celebrate a decade of V!

Text the fest, free kebabs and angels…

Once again Virgin Mobile joins the festival as headline sponsor, making it one of the longest standing music sponsorships in the business. They are guaranteed to bring us all the things that festival goers have got used to, Text the Fest, free kebabs and beer for their customers and angels onsite to do everything from putting up your tent to making sure you find it again at the end of the night.

Virgin Mobile - the V in the V Festival!
