NEW YORK (Jive Records) - Jive recording artist and song writer Raheem DeVaughn's video for "
Guess Who Loves You More" has been added to VH1 Soul and is scheduled to start airing on Monday, May 9, 2005.
Born in Jersey, Raheem moved to Maryland with his mother at a very early age. Although his parents were not together, his father, jazz musician Abdul Wadud, was definitely a very strong influence. While attending college at Coppin State, Raheem started his first music experiences, showcasing his skills in nightclubs and at talent shows. Thanks to a series of independent releases and local live performances, Raheem built up a strong following in the DC area. Soon enough, he landed his deal with Jive Records.
Raheem DeVaughn's album The Love Experience will be released later this year. The album is a well-written diary backed by lush productions that are credited to A Touch Of Jazz, Burn Unit and Rockwilder, amongst others. DeVaughn's voice borrows heavily from generations before his; at times, he's able to recreate a moment in musical history when Marvin Gaye and Bob Marley were all at the height of their creativity. Raheem's repertoire features love songs as well as socially conscious tracks that show love for all people.
Raheem DeVaughn is one of the opening acts for the Brian McKnight tour. The tour is scheduled to start on Friday May 20th in Raleigh, NC at the Alltel Pavillion. The tour ends on Saturday, June 25th in St. Louis, MO at the Fox Theater. (Tour dates attached).
