New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Desperate to save his ailing mother, 11-year-old Gunner runs away from home on a quest to find a mythic figure rumored to have the power to cheat death.
The Water Man is real. The forest is alive. #DavidOyelowo makes his directorial debut in The Water Man, starring #RosarioDawson & #LonnieChavis, premiering on Netflix on 9 July.

The Water Man is about a journey that young, book-loving Gunner (Chavis) embarks on with the hopes of saving his leukemia-stricken mother, played by Dawson. When Gunner, who spends his free time consuming fiction, mystery, and magic, hears of a local legend, a magical being named Water Man who has healing powers, he and his new friend Jo (played by Amiah Miller) head into the woods to find him. Oyelowo plays Amos, Gunner's father who is also struggling to come to terms with his wife's illness, but rather than seeking out fantasy and adventure as a way to cope with imminent death, he feels despair.
