The Web's Influence On Music, Radio And The Top 40 Charts
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The ability to find a range of options for entertainment online is seemingly never-ending. From music to sport, to films, and online casinos such as non Gamstop casinos, the internet provides a vast amount at your fingertips. We've become accustomed to it, we rely on it, and its influence in everyday life continues to grow.

The endurance and longevity of radio

There is no shortage of radio coverage that can be found on the web. Most of the top radio stations have an array of online platforms for you to either listen live, or to catch-up on your favorite shows after they've aired. The best feature is when you can download the show you want and listen to it while out on the move.

More and more stations are available, with many of them appearing in an online format only. Sometimes, radio stations have stopped transmitting on normal frequencies and have moved solely online instead. Regardless, radio stations nowadays often have a music theme to their station, while some of them are more about bringing you the latest chart toppers, or a wider range of music genres. Plus, there's the entire of SiriusXM if you don't have your own favorite radio station at hand. It offers everything from music, sports, entertainment, comedy, and chat show host shows.

Radio Hosts

There's also no shortage of admired and adored radio hosts across the globe. From Greg James and Chris Moyles in the UK, Joe Rogan or Howard Stern in the USA, and Hamish and Andy in Australia, the world continues to love radio shows. When print media seemingly dwindles year after year, it's perhaps a bit of a surprise to see something like radio still thriving.

However, it seems that radio hosts have a charm that people are willing to welcome into their lives on a daily basis. It might be the feeling that with radio, there's someone else actually in the room with you. Ok, they're not speaking with you directly, but somehow they do give the feeling that you know them, and they know you. It's a bit more human and connected to the outside world than just listening to a bunch of individual tracks that you've thrown together on a playlist yourself.

Streaming music online

A lot of people undeniably stream their favorite music direct from Apple Music or Spotify now. But there are some who still prefer the ability to download songs for use whenever, and wherever, they want, without needing to worry about internet access or access to an app. iTunes isn't gone yet. And, the top 40 charts still take into consideration all forms of playing a track when the top 40 chart results are determined. Whether the music is purchased digitally, physically, or streamed online, the results are amalgamated to determine the chart results.

Physical music ownership

In complete contrast, it can also be argued that records and record players have actually made a comeback over the last few years. It seems in music shops, online tech stores, and even places like Marshalls and TJ Maxx, there are record players available for purchase. Plus, there is no shortage of thrift stores, where you can find people delving through the shelves for that perfect record to add to their collection. So perhaps it's not always about streaming music anymore. Perhaps the art of music has not been lost over the generations.

For older generations, which apparently includes anyone over the age of 30 because they remember the days of CD's, mini-discs, records, and even 'the cassette', it's almost comical how the web has totally changed the music scene. No need to record tracks from the radio onto a tape while trying to eliminate any host commentary. Today, it's all available online. But it is fantastic to see that radio and records have somehow escaped elimination.
