CCM Magazine Names Sara Groves' Add To The Beauty Album Of The Year

LOS ANGELES (AlMenconi.com) - Sara Groves continues her career trek as one of the most critically-acclaimed singer-songwriters in our industry, recently having her latest CD, ADD TO THE BEAUTY, lauded as CCM Magazine's Album of the Year in their current December issue.

With a hit single, 'You Are The Sun,' a successful tour with Jars of Clay this fall, and resounding praise in publications nationwide, ADD TO THE BEAUTY is definitely a benchmark album for Groves. Watch for Sara to appear on the cover of Today's Christian Woman magazine this March 2006.

Regarding how ADD TO THE BEAUTY has been so well-received, Groves commented, 'I'm so thankful for the positive reception of the new album. It is a tribute to all of the great, creative people that contribute to the music.'

*Here's a look as what reviewers had to say about ADD TO THE BEAUTY this year:

"On her latest album she continues to sing like a wonderful combination of Dar Williams and Dolores O'Riordan, and her songs continue to be a revelatory blend of bell-toned pop guitars, judiciously applied strings, sturdy rock & roll grooves, and hook-laden melodies... this album will give you cause for hope. - AllMusic.com

"... When she encourages us to 'add to the beauty,' this thoughtful singer/songwriter does so in the most compelling way. She leads by example. ...Her voice is addictive, but it's her songwriting that makes fans for life. ...Encountering this disc for the first time, descriptors such as lovely, thoughtful, emotive and delightful quickly come to mind. ...it should be mentioned upfront that Sara's voice is presented in a new light here, courtesy of producer Brown Bannister (Amy Grant, The Afters). Sara's never sounded as versatile or confident as she does on these songs... And it's not just Sara's voice: Add to the Beauty's production as a whole is extremely classy. Purists will be pleased to discover that all 57 minutes and 11 seconds of it fit her art like a glove." -Grade: A/ CCM

"...continuing to make some of the most moving music CCM has seen this decade....unassuming, introspective, piano-heavy, inspirational......she's still a golden songwriter" -4 out of 5 stars - ChristianMusicToday.com

"Sara Groves, why haven't I heard of you before? With a sweet, profound voice 'Add to the Beauty'.... Groves is a refreshing, all- around great artist." - CDINsight.com

"Yet another stellar release from a singer-piano player-lyricist ..... With Groves' bell-clear soprano dancing atop classy, tasty, varied melodies, she turns in supremely poetic takes on our invitation to partner with God in his multifaceted redemptive process. "Groves has more than followed her album title's directive here)." Grade: A - Youth Worker Journal

"Few artists have the ability to release a series of albums without repeating themselves. Sara Groves is one such artist. Her latest project, 'Add To The Beauty,' harks back to the beauty and poignancy of her previous efforts, and returning with her are the same stunning lyrics that flow together brilliantly with her extraordinary musical sensibilities......Whether you're a new to Sara Groves, or an old fan counting down the seconds to her next concert, you're going to want to add 'Add To The Beauty,' to your 'must-have' list.
