London, UK (Sony BMG Music Entertainment UK) - Youth, the studio debut from America's most popular reggae singer, Matisyahu, debuted at No 4 on the Billboard chart this week. Entering the iTunes Chart at No 1 as well as Billboard's Top Internet Albums Chart, Digital Albums Chart and Reggae Chart.
The album follows the soft release of his Live at Stubbs record, which has sold over 500,000 copies in his native USA and spawned the radio hit King Without A Crown.
The album is released in the UK on May 8th. Youth, which was recorded during the summer of 2005 under the guidance of celebrated producer, bassist, and reggae enthusiast Bill Laswell, is a compelling mix of ancient and modern sounds and ideas.
Laswell, who has worked with artists as diverse as Herbie Hancock, Sly + Robbie and Iggy Pop, as well as remixing the classic Trojan Records reggae catalog, proved an ideal foil for the unique group.
