NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Conqueroo) - The Americana Music Association is pleased to announce the appointment of Jed Hilly as Executive Director of the seven-year-old trade organization. Hilly will start with the association on March 1. As Executive Director, Hilly will lead the organization in its mission to advocate Americana music by promoting public awareness of the genre and supporting the creative and economic viability of Americana artists.

?We pursued Jed for this position because we know that he gets it,? says Americana Music Association President Tamara Saviano. ?Jed understands that the music is what drives the artists and professionals who work in Americana, and he has the experience and vision to take the AMA to the next level while keeping the integrity of our music and artists intact.?

?I?ve always been drawn to this genre of music, the people involved and the artistry of the musicians the AMA represents,? Hilly said. ?There is not a more dedicated group of people in the industry. I couldn?t be more excited.?

Currently, Hilly is the Vice President of Orbison Records. He has been instrumental in the development of Roy Orbison museum exhibits, the creation of a commemorative stamp with the US Postal Service, and an all-star tribute to Orbison at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Prior to moving to Nashville in 2002, Hilly was an executive in Sony Music?s New York office. During Hilly?s long tenure at Sony, he worked on some of the industry?s most successful and significant projects, developing several vital programs within multiple divisions of the corporation including sales and distribution, international marketing, electronics and publishing. In 1992, Jed coordinated elements of the grass roots artist development campaign for the then unknown band Pearl Jam. Following this success, Hilly worked with MTV to create the first ?Buzz Clip? retail marketing campaign which helped Oasis? ?Wonderwall? break through on the music charts leading to the band?s first multi-platinum success in the US. By 1997, Hilly was Sony?s key executive responsible for superstar band Creed?s international marketing campaign and worldwide explosion. Following millions of units sold he became a member of the corporate executive team and was asked to develop new business strategies for Sony?s Digital Asset Management Initiative. Serving as Corporate Vice President and Global Manger of B2B applications, Hilly directed the development of worldwide multi language websites.
Hilly has served on the RIAA/NARM merchandising committee, the Rock n? Roll Hall of Fame American Music Master advisory board, and is a member of NARM and the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
Beginning March 1, Hilly can be reached at 615-386-6936 or [email protected] .
