Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ BNA Records) - Terri Clark, the hardest working showgirl in country music, gets to do what she does best - play for the fans - in her hometown, as the Country
Music Association tapped the 4-time CMA nominee to open their annual Fan Festival with a rocking set on the Cumberland River . Hitting the Greased Lightning Stage at 10:00 a.m. sharp on
Thursday June 7th, Clark will ring in the 2007 CMA
Music Festival with her signature take-no-prisoners performance style and a fistful of hits, that include her first BNA smash 'Dirty Girl.'
'I remember playing for tips down on Lower Broadway, and seeing how excited the fans were - and that was just so contagious,' says the multiplatinum powersinger. 'And there were a couple years, I even got passes… and got to stand in line and get my share of autographs… so to me, being asked by the CMA to open Music Festival is a real thrill. I know how long people save to get here for this, and I know they come ready to have a good time. You know me? If they're here to have fun, I'm here to help them do it.'
A 7-time Canadian Country Music Fan Favorite Entertainer of the Year, Clark has always been about putting on an explosive live show. But she's also defined herself as the voice of real women putting in the hours and the men who love them. With her move to BNA Records, the high-energy songwriter has continued her commitment to remaining true to the fan-base and recognizing that there's plenty of room for all kinds of people.
''Dirty Girl' is the kind of song everyone can relate to,' she says of her current single – fast approaching Top 30 on the country singles chart. 'If you want take it as something risque, you can, but it's really about being the kind of girl who's as comfortable on a 4-wheeler as she is going out to dinner. I've always been that kind of woman - someone who'd just as soon go hiking in the Rockies as somewhere where I have to keep my voice down - and I know there are a lot of us out there! And I know there is going to be an awful lot of them at Music Festival. So, I can't wait to see them.
In the midst of a pretty intensive coast-to-coast promo tour, Clark is also playing as many dates as she can 'for my sanity, because onstage is where I feel most alive.' She's also busy putting the finishing touches on the eagerly anticipated My Next Life, her BNA debut scheduled to arrive at retail in August. With a full schedule, a video in power rotation on CMT and GAC and much more to come, look for Clark at the Academy of Country Music Awards, May 15th.
