NEW YORK, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Atlantic Records) - Trill Entertainment/Asylum/Atlantic recording artist Webbie has announced details of his eagerly anticipated new album, "SAVAGE LIFE 2." Highlighted by the hit single, "Independent (Feat. Lil' Phat and Lil' Boosie)," the set drops in stores and online on February 26th.

"SAVAGE LIFE 2" sees the Baton Rouge-based rapper joined by such hip-hop luminaries as Bun B, Young Dro, and Birdman, along with a number of his Trill Entertainment/Asylum/Atlantic labelmates, including Lil' Boosie, Foxx, Big Head, and 3 Deep's Mouse, Shell, and Lil' Phat. The production line-up is equally impressive, with studio contributions from Mouse, Mannie Fresh, B-Real, and BJ. Along with "Independent," the album includes such future singles as the upcoming "Missing You."

"Independent" is already looking like one of the New Year's first major hip-hop successes. The track is now lighting it up at Urban radio outlets nationwide, coming in at No 5 with a bullet with the week's No 2 Most Increased Plays. "Independent" marks Webbie's third Top 5 Urban hit single, following 2005's "Give Me That (Feat. Bun B)" and 2007's "Wipe Me Down" (performed with Lil' Boosie and Foxx, and found on the "TRILL ENTERTAINMENT PRESENTS: SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST" compilation). What's more, "Independent" is also rocking the Rhythmic airplay chart, where it is currently climbing towards the top 20.

The "Independent" companion video is now in "Heavy" rotation at BET after scoring huge play on "Rap City" and "106 & Park." Webbie was recently seen on the network's annual "106 & Party: BET New Year's Eve" extravaganza, pairing up with Lil' Boosie and Foxx to perform their recent hit single, "Wipe Me Down (Remix)."

Furthermore, "Independent" was named MTV Jams' first "Jam of the Week" for 2008, following in the footsteps of major hits from such artists as Flo Rida, T-Pain, 50 Cent, Kanye West, and Jay-Z.

Webbie - who recently wrapped a national tour alongside his Trill Fam partners Boosie and Foxx - is set to embark on a major coast-to-coast promotional itinerary. Full details of the late January/early February trek will be announced shortly.

Webbie first captured the attention of the underground hip-hop scene in 2003 when he signed with the visionary Baton Rouge label, Trill Entertainment. The label - launched by Mel and Turk with UGK's one-and-only Pimp C - helped develop the young MC's nascent gifts, with Pimp C serving as both inspiration and mentor. Trill soon teamed Webbie with fellow Baton Rouge native Lil' Boosie, and the two quickly released a pair of independent hip-hop classics, 2003's "PIMP C PRESENTS: GHETTO STORIES" and 2004's "GANGSTA MUSIK." The latter collection blew up nationally, fueled by the mainstream breakthrough single, "Give Me That (Feat. Bun B)." That track's success was followed in 2005 with two featured cuts on the soundtrack to the Academy Award-winning motion picture, "Hustle & Flow": "Bad Bitch Remix (Feat. Trina)" and "Swerve."

That same year saw the release of Webbie's solo debut, "SAVAGE LIFE." The album earned critical acclaim from a variety of national publications, including Rolling Stone, which declared "tracks such as 'How U Ridin'; and the hot-s**t single 'Give Me That' are appropriately busy - partly because (Webbie's) boyish drawl is jabbery and exuberant, partly because even his gangsta cuts sound like party songs."

2007 kicked off with a bang, with Webbie joining Lil' Boosie, Foxx and Trill Fam on the smash compilation, "TRILL ENTERTAINMENT PRESENTS: SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST." The album - highlighted by the blockbuster single, "Wipe Me Down" - debuted at No 14 on the Billboard 200 upon its May release.
