LA Times Chooses Open Borders Music And Arts Festival As What May Be The Most Eclectic Local Festival In The Southland
Thousand Oaks, CA (Top40 Charts/ Open Borders Music and Arts Festival) The former Borders bookstore in Thousand Oaks continues with its eclectic summer concert series, breaking down all sorts of genre barriers with artists as varied as the critically acclaimed Chen-Wu-Janss Ensemble with Special Guest Angel Romero; comedic actor Brad Garrett with Pat Longo's Hollywood Big Band; Jazz legends Lee Ritenour and Roger Calloway, cute country combo, He's My Brother She's My Sister (July 4th), avant-rapper Murs with Scarub, classic rockers Jefferson Starship and stoner-rock titans Entrance Band.

The Open Borders Music and Arts festival will feature performances, large and small, with a main stage offering national and international music while the small stage offers comedy, folk and country acts, poetry and a soapbox for rants. The festival will be open Thursdays and Fridays, 6PM-midnight; Saturdays, 12Noon-12Midnight and Sundays, 12Noon-10PM . Weekend admission from 12Noon-5PM is free and admission during evenings (after 6pm) will require the purchase of concert tickets which vary in price (all listed on www.openborders2011.com). There's Wi-Fi, there's air-conditioning, food, beverages and family fun making Open Borders the perfect stay-cation destination located right off the 101 Freeway in Thousand Oaks.

Other performances include Pinback, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Klezmatics Meiko and Ozomatli. New shows are being added to the line up on a daily basis.

Additionally, the rock star of kickboxing and martial arts instruction, Chris Stevenson of Stevenson Fitness will teach a special two hour high energy, heart thumping, super fun cross training kick it class at the venue on Sunday, July 31st.

All profits from the Open Borders Festival will benefit multiple non-profit organizations who are dedicated to teen suicide prevention, sustainability and other social issues through Regenerate Films www.regenerate.org.
