Annual Bali Songwriting Summit Continues To Unite Today's Hottest Talent And Deliver The Hits
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Nettwerk One Publishing) Nettwerk One Publishing and Island Records Australia recently held their 2nd annual Bali Songwriting Summit in Ubud, Bali. The summit was conceived and launched last year as a partnership between Nettwerk One Publishing's Peter Coquillard and Island Records Australia's General Manager, Michael Taylor in an effort to bring together some of the hottest artists, writers and producers from around the globe in one of the most culturally unique and artistic locations in the world.

Several esteemed artists and writers of the pop world attended this year's summit, which was held from May 28 June 5, 2011, including Nick Jonas of Grammy-nominated superstars The Jonas Brothers, Multi-Platinum recording Australian artist Delta Goodrem, #1Billboard hit songwriter Bonnie McKee (Katy Perry, Taio Cruz) and many more (full list of attendees below). In addition to the state-of-the-art recording studios on site, attendees enjoyed several planned events that showcase the best of Bali culture, art, food and music. "Ubud has such a unique rhythm to itself. Giving artists and writers the opportunity to create outside of their normal day-to-day, can be the needed catalyst for truly special songs," say Michael Taylor, GM, A&R / Head Of Island Records Australia, Universal Music Australia.

The inaugural summit hosted artists and songwriters like Brian McFadden, Gary Go, Delta Goodrem, Marvin Priest, Gary Clark and Arnthor Birgisson. A total of 29 songs were written, including 6 released or scheduled singles (Brian McFadden, Marvin Priest, Zoe Badwi), and 10 additional slated album cuts. It has also lead to continued collaborations between various attendees. The 2011 summit resulted in 27 new songs written.

Marvin Priest just released his epic new single "Take Me Away" (featuring the #1 pop sensation Wynter Gordon) in Australia. Priest co-wrote "Take Me Away" with fellow writers/artists Fredro Odesjo, Arama Brown and Cassie Davis at the inaugural Bali Songwriting Summit in 2010. This rising talent (and son of reggae superstar Maxi Priest) just saw his debut Australian single, "Own This Club," be certified double platinum. Listen to "Take Me Away" HERE and watch a preview of the new video for the track HERE.

Additionally, two songs that were written at the 2011 Bali Songwriting Summit will appear on Island Records Australia Multi-Platinum recording artist Gin Wigmore's upcoming album, produced by Butch Walker. One of these two tracks was also adapted into a duet between Wigmore and Walker. The other track is a co-write between Wigmore and Julian Hamilton (of The Presets) and Gary Clark. A third song written by Livvi Franc, Heather Bright and Chris DeStefano called "Livvin My Life" is slated to be the first single by new Universal Republic artist Avery.

Swedish producer/songwriter and two-time summit attendee Arnthor Birgisson commented on the experience: "I enjoyed every minute the Songwriting Summit. The combination of amazing writers, studios, staff and the general environment completely rejuvenated me creatively and gave me energy to work hard another year. It really is an incredibly unique experience."
