Carolina Chocolate Drops Kick Off US Tour 2014
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Carolina Chocolate Drops kick off a months-long tour of the United States with a performance at the Charleston Music Hall in Charleston, South Carolina, tonight. The concert introduces the Chocolate Drops' new lineup, including co-founder Rhiannon Giddens, multi-instrumentalist Hubby Jenkins, and two musicians new to the group, cellist Malcolm Parson and multi-instrumentalist Rowan Corbett. The tour, which includes confirmed shows through the end of April, makes stops across the Southeast through March, up into the Northeast starting in the spring, then back South for MerleFest and more. They will also join Old Crow Medicine Show for a performance at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado this summer.
See below for all of the currently announced shows.

Rhiannon Giddens gave another show-stopping performance as she and Hubby Jenkins joined Bonnie Raitt, T Bone Burnett , Ry Cooder , Rodney Crowell , Joe Henry, and others in paying tribute to the Everly Brothers at the Troubadour in Los Angeles last Saturday, in advance of the Grammy Awards. Giddens "delivered a knockout punch," says the Hollywood Reporter 's Chris Willman, and, says the Los Angeles Times 's Randy Lewis, "mesmerized the crowd with her commanding version of 'Long Time Gone.'"

Nonesuch released its second record from the Carolina Chocolate Drops - the Grammy-nominated Leaving Eden - in 2012. The band's first Nonesuch release, the critically acclaimed Genuine Negro Jig , won a Best Traditional Folk Album Grammy.
