(Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - Mac Rebennack, known to music aficionados as Dr. John, has long been known as "one of New Orleans' most passionate ambassadors" (USA Today) who "carries the city's lore in his fingers, his scratchy voice and his memory" (New York Times). This year, "Big Easy icon" (Time Out New York) Dr. John will be honored at the 12th Annual Jazz Heritage Festival and Foundation Gala, which will take place on Thursday, April 22, at 7 pm at the Hilton Riverside Hotel in New Orleans. The evening will feature a lifetime tribute to and performance by Dr. John. Proceeds from the Gala will support the Don Jamison Heritage School of Music, a free after-school program of the New Orleans Jazz Heritage Foundation. On the evening of Friday, April 23, Dr. John and the Lower 911 will be one of the featured acts on the bill at the Fair Grounds Race Course, which is located at 1751 Gentilly Boulevard in New Orleans. On Saturday, April 24 at 10:00 pm, Dr. John and the Lower 911 will be the headliner at the House of Blues, 225 Deacatur Street, New Orleans.
