SAN FRANCISCO, CA. (Top40 Charts/ San Francisco Parlor Opera) - On May 21, 23, 28 and 30th, San Francisco Parlor Opera will perform Charles Gounod's masterpiece "Faust." All performances will take place at San Francisco Parlor Opera's performance space at 1652 Hayes Street in San Francisco. Instead of the scenes changing on a dedicated stage, the audience will follow the action from room to room.

This is San Francisco Parlor Opera's third production. Their first two productions, Mozart's "Le Nozze di Figaro" and "Cosi Fan Tutte" both enjoyed successful sold out runs and enthusiastic reviews. In the words of one audience member, "Last night's Le Nozze di Figaro... was a knock out!... I firmly celebrate this troupe, encourage anyone who lives within striking range of SF to take advantage of this amazing production... I have been fortunate enough to enjoy operas in most of the great capitals of Europe, as well as several in Asia, Africa and across the U.S. [This was one of my] top three opera experiences."

Gounod's "Faust" follows Dr. Faust from the brink of suicide, to his deal with the Devil for the heart of virginal Marguerite and through all the ensuing drama inevitably brought about by such a corrupt pact. This eerie story and renowned score are beautifully realized under the stage direction of Ross Halper and music direction of Steven Bailey, respectively. The role of Faust will be sung by tenor Kevin Courtemanche, Mephistopheles by baritone Cole Grissom, Marguerite by soprano Patricia Urbano, Valentine by baritone Daniel Epstein, Siebel by mezzo soprano Elizabeth O'Neill, Martha Schwerlein by soprano Marisol Urbano and Wagner by baritone Nathaniel Marken.

Founded in 2008 by Grissom, O'Neill and Urbano, San Francisco Parlor Opera is a small opera company based in San Francisco that performs operas in their original language to small audiences in private homes and other intimate settings. SF Parlor Opera is committed to carrying the power and beauty of opera in an immediate environment with the audience as close to the music and drama as possible.
