Chiesa Nuova Presents Spanish And South American Traditional Folk Dances By Sator Duo
Chicago, IL (Top40 Charts/ Ginny Richardson PR) Artistic Director Robert Hutmacher, O.F.M., of Chiesa Nuova invites music lovers to the return of Sator Duo. After a series of concerts in London, Paolo Castellani and Francesco Di Giandomenico return to Chicago for the first week of October under the auspices of Chiesa Nuova.

They will perform Spanish and South American traditional folk dances on the violin and guitar.

The concert dates are:
7:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 1, at Ganz Hall, Roosevelt University, 430 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL.
7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 2, Chiesa Nuova, 230 S. Laflin, Chicago, IL.
7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 4, at Ascension Catholic Church, 808 S. East Ave., Oak Park, IL

"Sator Duo is one of the most exciting duos playing in Italy these days," Hutmacher said. "Their concerts are filled with passion and the fire of Latin music, yet always tempered with the compassionate personalities of these consummate musicians."

For three years Castellani and Di Giandomenico researched the history and musicology of Spanish and South American traditional folk music, allowing Sator Duo to build an extensive repertoire with original transcriptions of the music of Gardel, Granados, Piazzolla, DeFalla, Brouwer and Cordero.

Castellani, violinist, is a member of the famed chamber orchestra, I Solisti di Perugia. Devoting most of his career to chamber music, Castellani has performed all over the world with both national and international music ensembles. He is also the author of several original pieces, transcriptions for string quartet and quintet, and works for orchestra, chorus for four voices, violin and guitar.

Di Giandomenico specializes in guitar, having studied with internationally renowned guitarists such as Leo Brouwer, Wolfgang Lendl, Carlos Barbosa Lima and Juan Sorroche. He has given concerts in Europe and the United States premiering works, some of which were dedicated to him, by Cordero, Sorroche, Benedetti, Magrino and Bolli.

The two musicians live in Perugia, Italy where they made their duo debut in 2010 and were an immediate success. They have since been performing extensively, and they released their first self-titled album, Sator Duo, in April, 2012.

The Franciscan ministry, Chiesa Nuova, (Italian for "new church") bears the name of a Franciscan church in Assisi, Italy, where, for some years, Chiesa Nuova's founder and artistic director Robert M. Hutmacher, O.F.M., lived and studied.

Founded in 1995, Chiesa Nuova has hosted nearly 500 performing artists who have entertained and enriched audience members. Artists who have performed have been vocalists, string ensembles, and actors such as William J. Norris and Dennis Newport, Grammy winning CSO clarinetist John Bruce Yeh and his wife Teresa, vocal groups such as Canticle Consort and Ngoma Group, and vocalists such as Alan Held.

The mission of Chiesa Nuova is to witness God's beauty and love through the performing arts by inviting artists and the community to mutually experience the fine arts in a Franciscan atmosphere of hospitality, openness and peace.

Tickets to Sator Duo are $25. For tickets or more information, call 312-226-0983 or visit https://www.chiesanuova.org.
