New York, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - On September 10, soulful rocker Danielia Cotton and her 3-piece band will perform music from her critically lauded album 'Rare Child' at "Rock for Barack," a NYC benefit concert which also features Living Colour and The Family Stand. 100% of the profits from the concert will go to MoveOn.org.

Living Colour drummer Will Calhoun conceived the event as "a night of music with local musicians whose songs will get people thinking about change. That's what this concert is really about: we want people to use the occasion of Barack Obama's historic candidacy to make a change in their lives that goes beyond election day- taking responsibility for their actions, and thinking in new ways about our country, our politics, our families, and our future."

Cotton herself has long supported Senator Obama's candidacy, and it is not a coincidence that the messages of hope, empowerment, and renewal that suffuse Obama's campaign also figure prominently in 'Rare Child.' Says Cotton, "I'm thrilled to be part of this concert and lending my talents during this historical moment."

Cotton has become one of the major breakthrough acts of 2008, and critics have been raving:

"She's a belter who can hold back or work her way up to a gospelly blues-rock shout, and in the songs she writes with her band's brawny guitar riffs, she grapples with the road, salvation, holding on and letting go." -Jon Pareles, New York Times

"A soulful, rocking '70s throwback...Cotton brings a freshness to the soul-rock formula, not to mention a contagious fervor that is near irresistible." -John Payne, LA Times

"She has a big voice - strong, clear and well-rounded - that commands attention for self-penned songs that burn with defiance and self-determination. Cotton... reveals all the soul beneath the strength." -Nick Cristiano, Philadelphia Inquirer

"Testify," the CD's gospel-infused centerpiece, starts like an old Stephen Stills tune and explodes likes the Black Crowes with more muscle. Cotton will indeed rock your world." -Jon Bream, Minneapolis Star Tribune
