New York, NY. (Top40 Charts/ MTV) - The next generation of dance music has arrived ladies and gentleman, and with the emergence of networks such as MTV's LOGO, artists such as Adam Barta and Hilary Duff are breaking onto the scene in a way like never before. Barta's music video for his Billboard-breakout dance single, "I Wanna Hold You", hit the number one spot this week on LOGO's weekly music countdown, The Click List (knocking out Jonny McGovern's reign of over 10 weeks).
Also holding steady on the countdown this past week was Duff's new music video for her single "Stranger", off her major label release on Hollywood Records. The convergence of major label artists like Duff with mainstream, but more independent artists such as Barta, on such a major music network, is remapping the way the industry is shaped.
Both Barta and Duff have become icons in the gay community in their own right, Duff trading in her bubble gum pop image for a sexier, sophisticated sound and look, and Barta in heavy rotation on Pride Radio and hitting the No 1 spot on iGay radio music charts.
With the advent of digital airplay and downloading music with the hit of a button, it allows for an injection of dance music artists both independent and major, into the mainstream music culture, whereas before it was a very streamlined and competitive industry in which only those with major label support were able to succeed.

"I Wanna Hold You", Barta's latest single, received a breakout on the Billboard hot club play charts back in October and is on other dance charts around the country. It has been heard on XM's BPM, Sirius's The Beat, and is in rotation on Clear Channel top 40 stations throughout the country.
It peaked at the number one spot on the Loud City music charts, appeared on Promo Only's and RockAmerica's video series in June, also being played at Abercrombie and Fitch stores throughout the country. Produced by DJ Mike Rizzo, who has a number of dance hits to his credit, the song also peaked at No 23 on the DJ Times Dance Charts and higher on other record pool charts around the nation.
No stranger to performing, this Bronx native has shared stages with Lucas Prata, Reina, and Danielle Bollinger. He will be featured on a track called Standing in the Rain on Russ Harris' upcoming album Ear Therapy on EsNtion Records. Duff's album, Dignity, has met with much success in the dance, pop and gay music community.
