New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Tuesday, December 16th marks the release of Fly Home, the debut EP by folk rock project Autumn Spirit. Created by Montreal-based musician Eric Burnet, known for his metal projects Derelict and Samskaras, Autumn Spirit is a melding of a wide variety of influences that meet to form often melancholic and sometimes progressive folk songs, peppered with hints of latin rhythms and heavy metal arrangements.
Fans of Iron & Wine, Pink Floyd and Andy McKee, as well as the softer sides of Opeth and Agalloch will find something for them here.
The EP is streaming in full and available as a pay-what-you-want download via https://autumnspiritmusic.bandcamp.com, and is also on iTunes, CD Baby and more.
Fly Home is a collection of songs written from 2007 to 2013 and chronicling Burnet's exploration of a new range of emotions through his music. "My main focus was metal for many years, but there were always some ideas and feelings that I couldn't express in that genre," he says. "This project shows a whole other side of what I can create, and I'm very proud of it."
A second EP, entitled Embers is set for release on February 17, 2015.
