NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ Maia Sharp Official Website) - Acclaimed singer/ songwriter/ multi-instrumentalist Maia Sharp's fourth full-length solo album, Echo, produced by the legendary Don Was, will be released on August 11th, and is in the mail to you now.
The poignant lead single, "John Q. Lonely," goes to radio in mid June and is one of two album songs that is available to download for free at Don Was' page on mydamnchannel.com.
Working both alone and with co-writers, Sharp penned Echo's dozen songs over a period of three years, but recorded them in 12 days at Henson Studios in Hollywood, CA. The brisk collaborative rhythm between Was and Sharp allowed them to capture the moment, leaving room for spontaneity to run its course. Grammy-winning recording artist, Bonnie Raitt contributes background vocals to "Death By Perfection" and drummer Jim Keltner (who's played on albums by artists ranging from George Harrison, John Lennon and Joni Mitchell to Elvis Costello, Rufus Wainwright and Fiona Apple) joins Sharp on all 12 tracks.
You already know her, you just may not know it yet. Sharp's compositions have been recorded by the Dixie Chicks, Bonnie Raitt, Cher, Mindy Smith, Kim Richey, Edwin McCain, Lisa Loeb, Trisha Yearwood and many others, and in 2005 she also collaborated with Art Garfunkel and Buddy Mondlock on the exquisite Everything Waits to Be Noticed.
We hope that you'll take the time to listen to this new album and consider the possibility of running a CD review or scheduling an interview or television booking. I'll be in touch soon to discuss your interest. Thank you for your consideration.
