Universal Music Group Distribution (UMGD) Celebrates Independent Music Stores With 'Record Store Day' Releases
Santa Monica, CA (Top40 Charts/ Universal Music Group) Universal Music Group Distribution (UMGD), the award-winning sales, marketing and distribution arm of Universal Music Group (UMG), will release exclusive vinyl titles from some of its biggest artists in celebration of 'Record Store Day.' The annual event, which takes places on Saturday, April 21, celebrates the importance and vitality of the independent music store.

UMGD artists in the program include recent chart toppers like Florence + the Machine and Lana Del Ray; new music from Garbage, Neon Trees and Miike Snow; as well as releases from legendary artists like Paul McCartney, Pete Townshend, ABBA and James Brown.

Moreover, a number of artists will participate directly in Record Store Day with in-store performances and in-store signings. Among them are Avicii (Coachella/Zia signing), Curtis Stigers (Record Exchange performance and signing in Boise), DJ Shadow (Coachella/Zia signing), Garbage (Waterloo Records, Austin), Grace Potter & The Nocturnals (Coachella/Zia signing), Mayer Hawthorne (DJ set at Newbury Comics in Boston) and My Darkest Days (Looney Tunes, Long Island, New York).
