JACKSON, MISS. (Top40 Charts/ Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi) - Legendary blues artists Bobby Rush and James "Super Chikan" Johnson will perform at the post-race concert for the inaugural Mississippi Blues Marathon and Half-Marathon on Saturday, January 5, 2008. The concert will take place at Hal & Mal's, located at 200 South Commerce Street, in downtown Jackson. Doors will open at 7:00 p.m. Super Chikan is scheduled to go on stage at 8:00 p.m., and the Bobby Rush Revue will perform at 9:30 p.m.

Advance tickets for the concert are $12 and will be available at all local Ticketmaster outlets and https://www.ticketmaster.com by Wednesday, December 12. Tickets will be $15 at the door.

The concert will be the culmination of the inaugural Mississippi Blues Marathon and Half-Marathon, presented by Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi. More than 600 runners from 35 states, the District of Columbia and Canada have registered to participate in the race, which will start and finish in the historic Fondren district of Jackson, and encompass the downtown area, Flowood, and parts of north Jackson.

To support its focus on the blues, event organizers will also be donating a portion of the proceeds to the Mississippi Blues Foundation to promote authentic Mississippi Blues music and support the blues as a uniquely Mississippi art form.
