LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ New West Records) - Legendary music renegade Steve Earle was honored by the Recording Academy with two Grammy nominations for as he gears up for a European and North American tour in support of his critically acclaimed, 12th studio album, Washington Square Serenade (New West Records.) The album was nominated in the Best Contemporary Folk/Americana Album category while Earle and his wife, Allison Moorer, were nominated in the Best Country Collaboration With Vocals category for their duet Days Arent Long Enough from Washington Square Serenade. A new music video for the albums first single, City of Immigrants will be available in December. The video features Moorer as well as NYCs Brazilian pop band Forro In The Dark - who are also on the album.

Earle, who is currently producing Joan Baezs new record in Nashville, is also gearing up for European dates this January, directly followed by a North American tour. The tour will be a unique one as Earle will also bring along DJ Neil McDonald, who will provide beats heard on songs off the album produced by John King of the Dust Brothers (Beck, The Rolling Stones, Beastie Boys). Allison Moorer will be featured as a special guest during Earles set as well as opening support. Pre-sale tickets for the tour will be available starting Wednesday, December 12th via Earles website (www.steveearle.com).

Washington Square Serenade, which celebrated author Stephen King rated No 1 on his list of top music of 2007 for Entertainment Weekly this week, is also No 3 on the Amazon.com best country albums of 2007. It has been heralded by The Sun (UK) as One of Earles best. Washington Square Serenade debuted No 72 on the Billboard Country Chart, No 79 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, No 46 on the UK National Sales Chart and No 37 in Canada on their Top 200 Albums Chart and No 5 on the Top Country Albums chart. It also received four stars in both Uncut and Blender while garnering three stars in Rolling Stone, The Los Angeles Times, Mojo and The Associated Press.

Beginning January 6th, Earle will appear in his recurring role as Waylon in the final season of HBOs distinguished series, The Wire. Earle has also recorded a new version of the Tom Waits classic, Way Down In The Hole as the series theme song; which is also included on Washington Square Serenade. Additionally, Earle hosts the The Steve Earle Show: Hard Core Troubadour Radio on Outlaw Country, SIRIUS Satellite Radio channel 63. The one-hour show features Earles personal music selections and special guest interviews.
