New Orleans, LA. (Top40 Charts/ Canewoman LLC) - Pop icon and Americana singer/songwriter Susan Cowsill kicks off a summer tour in that will also include several benefit performances, including support for Women Against Military Madness, a school project in Tanzania, and a Voice of the Wetlands concert in South Louisiana.

July 6 will mark a fund-raiser for Women Against Military Madness (WAMM) at the Minnesota Music Cafe in St. Paul, MN. WAMM is a non-violent feminist organization that works in solidarity with other groups to create a system of social equality, self-determination, and justice through the education and empowerment of women. WAMM's mission is to dismantle systems of militarism and global oppression.

Susan Cowsill will headline a 'Brick by Brick Benefit' at the Kewaskum High School in Kewaskum WI. Proceeds will go towards building a school in Tanzania.

The tour winds up in South Louisiana at a Voices of the Wetlands gathering in Houma, LA on October 12. Cowsill will join Tab Benoit, Cyril Neville and other Louisiana musicians as they focus attention on the destruction of America's wetlands and the need for human intervention.

'The wetlands of Louisiana fade daily due to erosion - at the rate the size of one football field an hour. I am proud to join Voice of the Wetlands as the voice of the people trying to fix this problem, which was one of the causes of the devastating flooding in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.' Cowsill said in an official statement.

Susan Cowsill made her initial mark on popular culture at the tender age of eight with The Cowsills, the 60s family pop group that not only scored Top Ten singles The Rain the Park and Other Things, Hair, and We Can Fly but also served as the real-life inspiration for TV's fictional Partridge Family. During Susan's decade with New Orleans' roots-pop supergroup The Continental Drifters, she won the hearts of discerning listeners with her impassioned vocals and personally-charged songwriting, gracing three widely-acclaimed albums and a decade's worth of riveting performances.

OffBeat Magazine named Susan Cowsill Best Female Vocalist and the Susan Cowsill Band was named Best Roots/Rock/Country Band at the OffBeat Music Awards in New Orleans, LA, January 2008. Wet Bank Guide (September 2007) called Susan Cowsill's Katrina song, Crescent City Snow, 'arguably the best of the lot. It is the anthem we have all been waiting for.'

John Mills of Harp Magazine wrote about Susan's performance at South By Southwest in Austin, at the Central Presbyterian Church. "Cowsill's music and larger-than-life vocals filled this sacred space, echoing off the cascading walls. From her Continental Drifters nugget 'The Rain Song' to her more recently-penned tribute to New Orleans, 'Crescent City Snow,' it was about the purest pop I heard my entire trip."

Veteran Rock Critic John Swenson covered New Orleans Jazz Fest 2008 and said, 'Though she's a veteran of the New Orleans music scene at this point Cowsill still exudes the little girl charm that dates back to the days when she was the little sister in her family band, the hitmaking '60s pop group the Cowsills. But Cowsill's voice is now a fully mature instrument. She delivers the knowing sorrow of heartbreak ballads like "The Rain Song" with the same skill as the angry payback she dishes on 'Talkin' and the whimsical joy she brings to her old family's hit 'The Rain, the Park and Other Things.' But on this opening day of Jazzfest Cowsill's most powerful moment came with her dramatic reading of 'Crescent City Snow,' her post-Katrina composition that is fast becoming an anthem for returning New Orleanians.'
