White Stripes enter the Billboard Album Charts at No 2 in the US with their sixth album, "
Icky Thump" (Third Man/Warner Bros.). The band's debut album for Warner Bros. was released last week to rapturous critical acclaim and is the band's highest first week chart placement to date. The album, selling 223,000+ copies in its first week alone, is also No 1 in the UK and in the top 10 in 13 other countries around the world.
The White Stripes are currently on an extensive tour of North America, their first tour since fall 2005, which was in support of their "Get Behind Me Satan" album.
