New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ SGC Media) After debut single "
Planets" caught the eyes and ears of Australia's triple j Unearthed, Rage, and a bunch of blogs worldwide earlier this year,
Little Earthquake have released a film clip for their followup single "
Brightside", from the debut EP of the same name. The band are also gearing up to hit the road in support of the EP, after their debut tour earlier this year led to crowds begging for more.
Little Earthquake is the brainchild of siblings Mathew and Justin Hyland, keen students of indie pop, embracing rock, electronic and acoustic instruments to bring their quirky melodies to life.
Based on Australia's Central Coast, the brothers grew up in bands together at school before heading to the states where they toured as guest members of US indie rockers Lydia, crossing the country and getting a taste for the road.
It was winding their way across American highways that the brothers began writing together for a new project, creating tracks which would go on to become the basis for
Little Earthquake.
Returning to Australia in 2013, the brothers teamed up with producer Lachlan Mitchell (The Jezabels, Pnau) who took their songs to a new level, creating the basis of their EP. The lead single from the EP "
Brightside" is a chant-along slice of indie pop reminiscent of The Naked and Famous or MGMT, bending genre and melody in four minutes of fun and freedom.
Brightside is out on June 6 via iTunes and other digital retailers
