Jerry Goldsmith Award Submissions Open (Cordoba Film Music Festival)
Cordoba (Top40 Charts/ Cinemedia Promotions) Submissions are now being accepted for The International Film Music Festival of the Province of Córdoba's (July 20th to 27th) annual Jerry Goldsmith Awards. The submission deadline for the 9th edition of the awards will be June 6th, 2014.

The Jerry Goldsmith Awards are awarded in eight categories - music for a full-length film, live-action short film, animation short film, documentary, commercial, promotional, song and free creation. From those award winners a ninth award - best overall young composer - will be selected.

The aim of this competition is to recognize the work of younger musicians who are starting a career in the audiovisual field (film, television, commercials and others) or those who have been around a bit, but have nevertheless not received due recognition. In the first phase, participants apply with their works in the different categories. In a second phase, the finalists are selected. And finally the winners will be announced in each of the categories during a ceremony held within the activities of the Festival.

These awards have helped launch the careers of several of its finalists and winners, such as Lucas Vidal, Arnau Bataller, Zeltia Montes, Marc Vaíllo, Zacarias M. de la Riva, Sergio de la Puente, Marc Helm, James Peterson, Stuart Hancock and Aritz Villodas.

Composers interested should visit https://festivaldecordoba.com/jerry-goldsmith/ for rules and submissions forms. The awards are open to artists regardless of nationality or country of residence.

Several juries will determine the semifinalists and finalists and include composers, musicologists, film critics and professionals in the audiovisual music in general, to select the winners. The name of the winners will be announced at the Jerry Goldsmith Awards ceremony, during the festival this coming July.

All finalists and winners in the different categories will receive, in recognition of his contribution to the written music for the audiovisual media, a plaque or certificate commemorating the event.

The Jerry Goldsmith Award for Best Composer winner will be invited, if he wishes, to participate in the next edition of the Festival, as a speaker on the panel of young composers to be held that year. The winner will also be given a trophy. In addition, the best overall composer will be invited to present part of his musical work in one of the concerts of the next edition of the Festival.
