And, 'Look Yourself,' the first single is the story of one man's salvation experience and the obstacles he encounters as he attempts to share his newfound faith with family and friends. This song has charted on RADIO & RECORDS Top 10 'Christian Rhythmic Chart', is a parody of controversial rapper Eminem's Grammy-winning number-one hit, 'Lose Yourself,' from the movie 8 Mile. As Eminem's original is loosely an account of his own rise as a rapper, so ApologetiX lead singer and lyricist, J. Jackson, says his parody is largely autobiographical. Also, ApologetiX 7th C D GRACE PERIOD was mailed to over 6,800 churches, thanks to Interl'inc (www.interlinc-online.com), a Christian music resource company that?sspent the last 19 years helping youth leaders around the world use Christian music as a ministry tool. And a single from that CD hit the Top 23 in
Radio & Records Report with the single 'Smooth Grandmama'. They also hit the Top 15 on CCM Update's best-selling rock album charts.
ApologetiX has become an official advocate for Compassion International (www.compassion.com), an organization founded in 1952 that provides food, shelter, education and medical care to more than 550,000 needy children in more than20 countries. That means we've joined a host of other Christian bands who support Compassion International by speaking about it and having a table at our concerts where people can sign up to sponsor individual children and even correspond with them. According to its website, "Compassion International exists as an advocate for children, releasing them from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enabling them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults."
With over 500 Biblical parodies written, ApologetiX shows no sign of slowing down. The seventh ApologetiX CD, "Grace Period" includes 20 new classic and modern parodies. 'The album title is a double entendre,' says ApologetiX lead singer and lyricist J. Jackson. 'As human beings, we are given a grace period throughout this life in which we are given time to turn to Christ for salvation before the final judgment. When we do turn to Christ, we are saved by grace, period.' And they specialize in Biblical spoofs of rock hits from yesterday and today, ApologetiX is known as the 'Weird Al Yankovic' of Christian music, performing concerts all over North America, including major Christian Festivals; Thousands of radio stations worldwide play ApologetiX parodies.
