ORLANDO, FL. (City Canyons Records) - City Canyons Records has announced the addition to its roster of the brilliant Peter Ulrich, the noted percussionist from the legendary Dead Can Dance. The first release of the multi-album deal with Ulrich will be ENTER THE MYSTERIUM in March of 2005. Headed by the endlessly creative duo of Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry, Dead Can Dance broke new musical ground with its startlingly original conceptions in such albums as "Spleen and Ideal," "Within the Realm of a Dying Sun" and "Serpent's Egg" from 1981 and continuing until their lamented break-up in 1996. Peter Ulrich's music recalls "Dead" but has an an exotic flavor of its own, blending seamlessly into a lush tapestry an array of musical genres--darkwave, dream-pop, ancient and medieval, new age, world and ethnic--played on instruments both ordinary and exotic. But mere words cannot explain that music. To understand it, you must enter Ulrich's world of light and shadow, a world of black and white magic, a world haunting, mysterious, sometimes frightening but in the end uplifting.
