LIVERPOOL, UK (Top40 Charts/ Wall Of Sound PR) Fox and the Law are very quickly making a name for themselves on the opposite side of the Atlantic. Since their 2010 formation they've become known as the go-to band in Seattle for a raucous, beer-soaked party. With the UK release of their third LP Stoned To Death on the horizon, they're bringing that party to British shores with a run of headline dates throughout
September and looking to start a similar fire on away-turf.
During a period where the city of Seattle has become better known for its shoe-gazers, singer/songwriters and new-age cowboys, this hard-rocking quartet harken back to a louder, more gutsy era. Shirking the plaid-grunge revival sweeping the current crop, they're pulling their sound straight out of the garage and drawing heavily on blues and classic rock influences.
Founder Guy Keltner (guitar, vocals) has worked with Dan O'Neil (drums), Patrick Dougherty (bass), and
Peter Williams (guitar) to fulfil his vision of what a rock and roll act should be: heavy, rhythmic, and loud. They've had their fair share of scrapes too, with Keltner contracting the disease scarlet fever whilst recording their debut album leaving him with little other choice than to call the LP - you guessed it - Scarlet Fever.
Strong influences include T Rex, The Stooges and Stevie Ray Vaughan and the band have recorded albums with
Martin Feveyear (Mudhoney, Queens of the Stone Age, Modest Mouse) and Graig Markel (Band of Horses, Nada Surf) who is the man at the production helm on Stoned To Death.
Their efforts haven't gone unnoticed in their native country either; having spent more than a quarter of 2013 touring the West Coast and the Southwest, they closed the year out by headlining Seattle's Psychedelic Holiday Freak Out festival and performing a live in-studio session on legendary radio station KEXP.
