Music Promotions today announced that Seattle, Washington's Direct Divide will begin the first leg of their extensive fall tour in Arizona this September, with shows throughout
Texas and the Midwest to follow. Direct Divide, whose recent Bridges EP was described byMetal Assault's Andrew Bansal as "cinematic, multi-layered rock music that would be ideal as a movie soundtrack," will kick off their tour on
September 18 at Rogue Bar in Scottsdale, Arizona. The quartet have distinguished themselves from other modern rock bands by featuring classical instruments such as violin, cello, and piano. Full album streams and purchases of Direct Divide's music are available on the band's official site.
Inspired by bands such as
A Perfect Circle and Muse, Direct Divide blend the classical elements of violin with the energy of electric guitar and the power of drums and bass. According to Nathan Pike of music blogAllWhatsRock, Direct Divide feature "well-executed hard rock songs that shimmer with the backing of piano and violin." The stark contrast between the moods of the instruments on Bridges gives the band their edge: "Combining the hard and the soft, the serious and the playful, and the pain and the beauty - that's what works best for Direct Divide."
Head songwriters Razz and
Kevin Proctor have been composing and recording together since 2011. Guitarist Proctor generates ideas at a prodigious rate, while front-woman Razz puts the emotions of the music into words, melody, and harmony. Drummer Valdemar Huguet and bassist Gabe Soto add energy and attitude.
Direct Divide are rapidly developing a reputation as road warriors. They have been touring non-stop since April of 2014, and by the end of this year the ambitious quartet will have completed an album release, a single release, two West Coast tours, and one very lengthy national tour.
