ST. LOUIS (Sony Music Nashville) - NBC affiliate KSDK, NewsChannel 5 and Epic Recording Artist Gretchen Wilson have teamed up to write the song "I've Got Redbird Fever" to the tune of Wilson's No 1 smash hit "Redneck Woman," timing the release with the St. Louis Cardinals drive for a World Series title.

"I grew up in Pocahontas, Illinois about 35 miles east of St. Louis," said an elated Cardinals' fan Wilson. "Some of my best childhood memories are of family, friends and the Cardinals on TV. When this opportunity came up, it just seemed natural for me to sing a song for "MY" team. Thanks Cards for the memories!"

"Our station is a big fan of Gretchen Wilson," said Lynn Beall, president and general manager of KSDK. "We've watched a local artist become a national star. We've done several stories on Gretchen, and most recently she was a guest on Show Me St. Louis. You can really feel the passion and the love she has for St. Louis and the Cardinals on this song."

The idea for the collaboration began in NewsChannel 5's marketing and promotion department. The challenge was creating a song that would stand out from the crowd of other compositions that normally hit airwaves during playoff runs. After creating some rough lyrics, the station made contact with Sony Music in Nashville. Gretchen looked at the proposition, and after a few lyric alterations recorded the song this past week in Nashville. NewsChannel 5 senior producer Jeff LoGrasso, and fellow producer Sean Jones, actually share credits with Gretchen for the lyrics on I've Got Redbird Fever.

The song is featured on promotional spots on NewsChannel 5, and will be used in programming content during Sports coverage and Specials in regards to the stations coverage of the World Series. There is a special link on the home page of the web site where you can hear the song in its entirety and see the story of how the song came to be.
"I hope this song helps rally not only country music fans, but everyone who is a part of the Cardinal nation," Gretchen said.
