NEW YORK (Interscope Records) - Internationally renowned recording and performing artists The Wallflowers will perform for thousands of Sailors aboard the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) this Halloween weekend. The band, their crew and thousands of pounds of concert and sound equipment will be flown via Naval cargo planes to an undisclosed location somewhere in the Pacific Ocean for the carrier performance.

This special concert will take place after months of planning by the U.S. Navy, the Stennis' crew and The Wallflowers' camp. The band will perform two full sets while on board, enabling the majority of the crew to attend a show. The San Diego based carrier is heading home after five months on deployment to the Western Pacific Ocean.
"The ship is excited to host The Wallflowers, and we are very thankful that the band took the time out from their busy schedules to be here for this once-in-a-lifetime performance," said Petty Officer 2nd Class Chris Fowler, one of the ship's Sailors who were instrumental in planning the visit.

The Wallflowers' Jakob Dylan commented, "We are thrilled to be able to do our small part in welcoming the men and women of the USS Stennis home after many months at sea. The risks they take every day for all of us are undeniable and the band is honored to play for them."
The San Diego-based aircraft carrier, commanded by Captain David Buss, is the center of the Strike Group and is the flagship for Rear Admiral Patrick Walsh, Commander, Carrier Strike Group Seven. Commodore John Christensen, Commander, Destroyer Squadron Twenty-one and Captain Scott Craig, Commander, Carrier Air Wing Fourteen are also embarked in USS John C. Stennis.
