LOS ANGELES (www.fredalba.com) -
Sounds normally associated with Los Angeles: The whirl of helicopters, the shrill of police sirens, the blaring of car horns. But that's all hype and Hollywood. There is another sound that fills the streets of this sprawling urban Mecca and it's an amalgamation of hip-shaking Latin rhythms, bass-heavy hip-hop beats, streetwise rock riffs, and funky soul grooves. Collectively, that sound is called FREDALBA.
Uptown Music For Downtown Kids, to be released on October 26th, is led by dynamic actor and lead singer Eric Balfour (Hawaii, The OC, Texas Chain Saw Masacre, 6 feet under, 24, Fearless). Fredalba takes music to the "next level" by mixing hip-hop beats, melodic vocals, and flute lines inspired by artists like Hubert Laws.
"Los Angeles is such a big part of what our music is, not unlike the Chili Peppers or Ozomatli," says singer-Fredalba visionary Eric Balfour. "There are so many influences here, from punk to Latin to rock to electro, that shapes who we are as musicians. This city shapes our style in every way. I wanted our sound to be L.A.
Recently featured as "catch of the day" on L.A.'s World Famous KROQ 106.7, Fredalba has been selling out headline performances at major venues in Honolulu (Eric's temporary place of residency), and the greater Los Angeles area, including the House of Blues.
Fredalba has just recently returned from Hawaii where they just finished shooting a music video for their single Gimme More.
