NEW YORK (Roc-a-Fella Records) - A discussion event with Roc-A-Fella founder and CEO Damon Dash on hip hop's most influential empire, and a special live performance by Roc-A-Fella artist Nicole Wray at The Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music, NYU

Roc-A-Fella Records began in 1995 when friends - Harlem-raised Damon Dash, Kareem "Biggs" Burke and the now multi-platinum rapper Jay-Z - decided to start their own label. Their $500 million hip-hop empire now incorporates the urban fashion companies Rocawear, Team Roc and State Property, Pro Keds Sneakers, Dash Films, America Magazine, Armadale Vodka, a digital division that's just unleashed the Rocbox line of digital music players, and much much more.

"Roc-A-Fella Records' 10th Anniversary Kick-Off" will be held Wednesday November 3rd, 7-9 pm at The Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, 566 LaGuardia Place. The event is designed for students, young aspiring record producers & entrepreneurs and members of the art professions to learn more about Roc-a-Fella Records and The Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music at Tisch School of the Arts, NYU.
The Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music is the first undergraduate university program of its kind to focus on the artistic training of record producers and music executives Students work in the recording studio, and the study the business and craft of music production, as well as the history and culture of popular music toward a BFA degree in Recorded Music. The Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music is part of the Tisch School of the Arts, one of the nation's leading centers of undergraduate and graduate study in the performing and media arts.

Highlights of "Roc-a-Fella Records' 10th Anniversary Kick-Off" will include a live onstage interview with CEO Damon Dash about the past, present and future of the Roc-A-Fella enterprises.
There will be a discussion with key members of the Roc team, including Roy Edmonson, VP Marketing for Roc Enterprises; Clark Kent, VP A&R For Roc-a-Fella Records; and Beth Melillo, Senior VP Dash Films.
Artists scheduled to perform include Roc-A-Fella Music artist Nicole Wray. The event is produced by Clive Davis Department Associate Chair Jason King, in association with Sony Music Entertainment and Dynamic Producer.
