New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Russian prog rock legendary band The Moon
Pierrot released their archive album "Whispers & Shadows" in the U.S.A.
The Moon
Pierrot (Лунный Пьеро) were a one-of-a-kind avant-garde rock band that emerged in Moscow (USSR) in 1985 on the wave of Perestroika.
Unlike their contemporaries, they distinguished themselves from others with their sophisticated music, elite artistic vision, world-class musicianship and western european sound.
The main driving force behind and the founder of the band was guitarist, singer and composer Arthur Mountaniol - now a prolific recording artist and independent filmmaker in the U.S.A.
The Moon
Pierrot have been often compared to King Crimson, but as the years have passed, their music now appears to be nothing short of original, profound, amazing and innovative in its own right.
However, back in those days, they were misunderstood by the majority of people whose music tastes were formed by the Soviet cheesy pop culture, and also avoided by ignorant concert promoters who were hostile to that kind of music.
Although, at the same time the band was getting increasingly popular among Moscow and St. Petersburg underground rock fans and having successfully performed at a number of big rock festivals, they signed a record deal with the Russian major label "
Melodia" which released their first vinyl LP in 1991.
Unfortunately the record came out around the time when the country was seized by the political turmoil which paralyzed all aspects of life and made it impossible for the band to continue.
However in 1992, in this uncertain situation, two remaining members of the band - Arthur Mountaniol and drummer Stas Kanareykin with the help of their friend - sound engineer Igor Klimenkov managed to record their second English language album called "Whispers & Shadows".
By the time they finished the recording, their label was already out of funds and was incapable of releasing records anymore, so Arthur Mountaniol went to West Germany and started looking for a record deal there. But the German music industry turned out to be even more conservative and skeptical and totally unwilling to accept anything innovative especially from Russia. So this album has never been released and for almost 22 years has been completely lost and forgotten.
Now we are proud to announce its first U.S. release!
"Whispers & Shadows" features eight studio tracks and two bonus live tracks recorded in 1990.
