Rev. Johannys Jimenez-Hartog Releases New LP Album 'Un Pasito Mas'
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The singer and songwriter of Latin music known as Rev. Johannys Jiménez-Hartog has released her latest EP record, "Un Pasito Mas." The album is composed of six original tunes for an approximate total listening time of 20 minutes. Classy, heartfelt, and full to the brim with el ritmo Latino, "Un Pasito Mas" is an international collection of music that music fans from around the world can appreciate.

Rev. Johannys Jiménez-Hartog (whose professional name is often shortened to just Rev. Johannys) cites as her main artistic influences only the popular singer, Juan Luis Guerra, with whom she shares a few similarities, such as an ability to evoke tenderness and fellow-feeling with her songs. The Dominican star is not Rev. Johannys' only source of musical inspiration, though. Even before naming Guerra, she points out that much of her music was stirred in her by "My parents and sisters and brothers."

"My family is full of musical talent," Rev. Johannys writes. "As long as I can remember, I have sung, played piano and guitar. As a teenager, I did backup singing with my two sisters for many Latino stars."

The topics of her lyrics in "Un Pasito Mas (One More Step)" are largely romantic in nature, as one can tell from the titles of the songs contained therein. These include, for example, "Ligada a Tu Amor (Tied to Your Love)," "Buscando Amor (Looking for Love)," and "Abro Mi Corazón (Open My Heart)."

Asked to comment on the themes of her new record, Rev. Johannys writes that her "Un Pasito Mas" is about "A positive, vibrant and joyful relationship with life and with God (or whatever people like to call the Source of Love)."

Rev. Johannys' singing career began in earnest alongside her sisters. They performed as support vocalists from 1982-1985 as Las Hermanas Jiménez for such artists as Yolandita Monge, Nidia Caro,
Marco Antonio Muñiz, Jose Jose, and others. Johannys was awarded Best New Recording Artist, Premios Paoli, for her "Entre Luces" album in 1990.

Rev. Johannys hosted the "Contigo Johannys" weekly variety show for Telemundo, P.R. from 1989-'91, and had primary roles in four different telenovela productions from '85-'88 on the same network.

Aside from her career in entertainment, Rev. Johannys Jiménez-Hartog has a master's degree in education and a BS in industrial engineering. Her spiritual education includes studies at the Unity Ministerial School at San Juan, Puerto Rico, the Pathways of Light Spiritual College at Kiel, Wisconsin and the Unity Institute at Lee's Summit, MO.
