NEW YORK (Eric Clapton Fans Website) - The British Rock superstar Eric Clapton, 59, one of the most influential rock guitarists of all time was was made a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) on Wednesday.

Eric Clapton received an Officer of the Order of the British Empire award in 1994, when he was honored as an authentic musical genius.
He was a member of the Yardbirds during the 1960s, before becoming an international star with Cream.

Clapton recorded his hit single Layla under the name Derek and the Dominos during the 1970s, followed by a string of hits throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
His MTV Unplugged album, recorded in 1992, sold 15 million copies worldwide.
