New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Luca and Nik pose with the first "innovators" to complete the Studio DMI "Pro-Mix" educational mixing and mastering workshop
2015 marks the inception of a series of workshops and educational opportunities that EUMM has formed around Luca's sought after studio talents.
EUMM Inc.'s lead audio engineer Luca Pretolesi unveils his secret mix strategies in a new series of educational workshops for 2015. Luca certainly has made a lot of noise over the last few years mixing and mastering many of the world's most recognizable club-hits and radio singles. Pulling from his 20-plus years within the music industry, he has been able to combine his techniques, workflow, and philosophies into a well-organized discipline. This 360ยบ approach to engineering became so defined and complete that it needed a name to illustrate its unique form. Thus the "study of digital music innovation" was coined. Much like Bruce Lee created Jeet Kune Do from his extensive experiences in martial arts, Luca founded Studio DMI with the intention of sharing his advanced knowledge with other engineers and producers pushing the boundaries of music production.
2015 marks the inception of a series of workshops and educational opportunities that EUMM has formed around Luca's sought after studio talents. During the past year, Luca and his team have worked hard to develop a detailed curriculum that features his most lauded approaches to mixing and mastering electronic music. The first Studio DMI "Pro-Mix Workshop" was offered in Las Vegas, Nevada this past February, taught by Luca in his personal studio. By partnering with select studios and schools, they intend to offer these monthly, 3-day workshops at locations across the country and possibly abroad.
Longtime Burbank based audio educators Icon
Collective will play host to Studio DMI's first California workshop over the long weekend of April 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. The workshop will be taught by Luca Pretolesi at Icon Collective's spacious, state-of-the art campus. EUMM's CEO Ronnie Lee highlighted this ideal partnership by saying, "IC's 10-year journey has helped thousands of serious producers and engineers achieve their professional dreams. Their approach to supporting the culture and community of music production and education is aligned perfectly with our own vision and standards." Those who are interested in participating in April's "Pro-Mix" workshop can find details and apply online at https://www.iconcollective.com or email

Unlike many courses in audio production, the focus of these workshops does not encompass the technical mastery of specific equipment and software. Instead, it covers the decisions behind applying these tools. Students will learn what processers work best for treating electronic music mixes and when to use them. As noted by Studio DMI's Educational Coordinator, Nik Hotchkiss, "The real benefit of these workshops is learning the perspective and rationale of someone who is sought after for his ability to create specific sounds and qualities of timbre. It is our hopes that students will instantly notice an improvement in their own mixes and will be able to make mastering decisions with greater confidence. As an added bonus, these workshops are excellent networking opportunities."
