SANTA MONICA, CA. (Geffen Records) - The man
Bruce Springsteen introduced as "the Hank Williams of my generation" at the Vote For Change finale show in Washington DC last month, John Fogerty, will kick off his headlining tour next week, November 8th, in Nashville, TN (see below for tour itinerary).
John Fogerty released
Deja Vu All Over Again, his first new studio album in seven years, on Geffen Records
September 21st and in its first week out it debuted at #23 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart. John Fogerty's current single, "Deja Vu (All Over Again)" is currently on the top of the AAA radio charts.
Reaction from the media to
Deja Vu All Over Again has been overwhelmingly positive as CBS Sunday Morning raved "it's full pure, catchy rock' n 'roll songs that sound like they could have been written by
Buddy Holly in the fifties or the
Beatles in the sixties or
John Fogerty at any moment since," while Rolling Stone calls the cd "a quick, energizing ride."
The media has also been raving about John Fogerty's performances at the six stops on the Vote For Change tour where Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band served as his back up band. Entertainment Weekly cited a musical highlight of the tour was "Fogerty, backed by the E Street band, snarling "Fortunate Son."
The Newark Star Ledger also cited Fogerty's performance of "Fortunate Son" as the "most powerful number of the night" at the Philadelphia show and at the final show at the Continental
Arena in New Jersey said Fogerty "was in good form, singing with gritty authority and bouncing around the stage like a teenager."
Fogerty produced the album
Deja Vu All Over Again himself, and enlisted the help of many extraordinary musicians to create the music, including Kenny Aronoff on drums, Jerry
Douglas on dobro, Viktor Krauss on bass, Benmont Tench on organ, and John himself,
Mark Knopfler and Dean Parks on guitar.
A member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,
John Fogerty is one our greatest American singer/songwriters and musicians. "Bad Moon Rising," "Who'll Stop The Rain," " Lodi," "Looking Out My Back Door," "Old Man Down The Road," " Proud Mary," and "Centerfield" are just a few of the rock standards Fogerty created both as a solo artist and with his seminal 60's and 70's band Creedence Clearwater Revival. Fogerty blended rockabilly, R&B, swamp rock and country music into a potent mix all his own. In addition to his revered work with CCR, Fogerty released hit solo albums like
Centerfield (1984),
Eye of The Zombie (1987) and the Grammy-winning
Blue Moon Swamp (1997).
