NEW YORK (Sony BMG Ent.) - Brad Davidson has been promoted to the position of Vice President, Top 40 Promotion, Columbia Records, it was announced today by Charlie Walk, Executive Vice President, Creative Marketing & Promotion, Columbia Records Group. Mr. Davidson is based in New York and will report to Mr. Walk.
In his newly expanded executive position as Vice President of Top 40 Promotion, Mr. Davidson will widen Columbia Records presence on Top 40 radio while broadening opportunities for the label's artists in contemporary radio markets.
"Brad started off in the tough turfs of Boston, just like I did. Through years of studying the continually changing art of promotion, he's earned a reputation as one of the most important and formidable promotion executives in the business," said Mr. Walk. "He has a savvy street sensibility and combines a thorough understanding of the strategic challenges of Top 40 radio with a deep appreciation of the musical and cultural trends that shape the medium. I am looking forward to continuing to work with Brad as Top 40 radio enters the next phase of its evolution."
Mr. Davidson began his career with Sony Music in 1997 as a College Rep in Amherst, Massachusetts. Moving to New York in 1998, he was named National Director, College Marketing, Columbia Records. In 1999, Mr. Davidson moved again to become the Regional Promotion Manager for Columbia's New England branch. In 2002, he moved back to New York to assume the title of National Director, Top 40 Promotion, Columbia Records. He was upped to Senior Director, Top 40 Promotion, Columbia Records in 2003.
Mr. Davidson holds a Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies and a Bachelor's degree in Afro-American Studies from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
